Why you need green hosting

Internet power costs a lot: more than 400 terawatt hours a year. Although the layout of an individual website is small, it all adds up: the Internet is responsible for about 3.7% of global greenhouse gases. This is equivalent to the amount generated by the global airline industry.

With our green hosting, you can be assured that your websites are protected on servers that avoid contributing to climate change. Sites hosted on RabHost will pass the GreenWeb Foundation's sustainability test.

We also made a safe ‘one-click’ option for those who don’t have the time or inclination to get too technical. Toggle it on, and you’ll see immediate, dramatic improvements.

A green hosting platform

Our team has developed a unique hosting platform, which is not available anywhere else.

It focuses on our auto-scaling technology. This ensures that when a website is busy, resources can be allocated to our entire hosting platform: multiple servers. Unlike other companies, your website is not bound to a single server.

The key to our eco-friendly offering is that it works in reverse. If a website is no longer busy, it will take less resources: processors, RAM and the cooling tech associated with them. Less resources mean less power consumption, and ultimately less harmful emissions.

Our sustainable data centres

100% RENEWABLE ENERGY

We've partnered with renewable energy providers to make sure our web hosting, cooling and network runs 100% renewable energy. This is the case in both UK and US data centers.

WORLD-CLASS EFFICIENCY

Our data centers are excellent in performance: with a PUE of 1.12 (power consumption efficiency). PUE describes how efficiently the data center uses energy (the less the better). Most hosts have a PUE of 1.2 or higher. We felt we could do better, so we have PUE 1.12. This is a key figure in the search for green hosting.

THE LATEST TECHNOLOGIES

As more efficient technology becomes available, we change our hardware - but never at the expense of the performance of your sites. We provide the fastest hosting available, without damaging the planet..

GREEN OFFICES

Our headquarters and datacenters in UK and USA. The office complex is powered by 2088 solar panels, which offset thousands of tonnes of carbon every year.

GREEN WORKING

We run paperless offices and recycle all our waste. It is illuminated by automatic LED lighting. Everything from the snacks we eat to our cleaning products are chosen for their green credentials.

GREEN THINKING

Employees are encouraged to work from home, share a car whenever possible, and we run a cycle to work scheme. They can be contacted through instant live chat and our email ticketing system.
